Baxcalibur
VGC Guide
Baxcalibur is the hardest-hitting physical Ice-type attacker in Regulation I outside of restricted slots. Thermal Exchange turns its natural Fire weakness into an offensive setup opportunity — opponents who target the expected weakness instead hand Baxcalibur a free +1 Attack.
Thermal Exchange: Turning a Weakness Into a Weapon
Thermal Exchange grants +1 Attack whenever Baxcalibur is struck by any Fire-type move. Dragon/Ice typing takes 2× from Fire — so opponents frequently target with Heat Wave, Flare Blitz, or Fire Blast expecting a clean KO. Thermal Exchange converts this: instead of just damage, Baxcalibur takes the hit and gains the Attack stage.
After one activation, Adamant Baxcalibur rises from approximately 205 to approximately 307 Attack at +1. At this power level, Glaive Rush's 120BP handles nearly every non-resistant target without defensive investment. Opponents who target the Fire weakness hand Baxcalibur a free setup turn.
