Pelipper is the gateway to every rain team. Drizzle triggers 8-turn Rain on entry, Hurricane hits 100% accuracy in Rain, and Wide Guard shields the entire team from Rock Slide and other spread physical attacks that rain attackers can't afford to eat.

Pelipper's Role in Rain Teams

The rain team loop is simple: Pelipper sets Rain → Kyogre or Urshifu attacks. Drizzle triggers the moment Pelipper switches in — no move slot wasted — allowing Rain teams to immediately attack from turn one.

Rain's combined boost package is powerful: Water moves ×1.5, Fire moves ×0.5 (gutting sun's counterplay), Thunder hits 100% accuracy, and Hurricane's accuracy jumps from 70% to 100%.

Beyond weather, Pelipper's Wide Guard is rain team's anti-spread insurance. Kyogre and Urshifu are threatened by spread physical moves like Rock Slide — Wide Guard blocks those entirely for one turn, letting attackers move freely.
